Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 8 ounces uncooked lasagna noodles
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef for about two minutes before adding the diced onions. Cook until the beef is browned and onions are translucent.
  2. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, water, Italian seasoning, sugar, garlic powder, and salt. Bring to a boil.
  3. Break uncooked lasagna noodles into 1-inch pieces and add them to the boiling sauce. Cover and simmer for 18-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until pasta is tender.
  4. Remove from heat and dollop ricotta cheese on top; sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over everything.
  5. Cover again and let sit for a few minutes until cheese melts.
  6. Serve warm, garnished with grated parmesan or parsley if desired.
