  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp instant yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 cup warm water (more as needed)
  • 1 lb ground beef or lamb
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 medium tomato, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup red bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp pine nuts
  • 1 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough by mixing flour, yeast, sugar, salt, olive oil, and warm water in a large bowl until soft. Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and let it rise for about 1 hour.
  2. For the filling, sauté onions in olive oil until soft. Add ground meat and cook until browned. Stir in chopped tomatoes, red bell peppers, allspice, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper; allow to cool.
  3. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out dough into ovals and place filling on top with borders.
  4. Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
