  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon maple extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, beat room temperature butter with maple sugar until combined. Add powdered sugar and mix until fluffy.
  2. Stir in maple syrup and extract. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, and salt; combine with wet ingredients to form dough.
  3. Chill the dough for 30 minutes before rolling out to 1/8" thickness. Cut with a maple leaf cookie cutter.
  4. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Cool completely.
  5. For filling, beat together butter, powdered sugar, syrup, vanilla extract, maple extract, and salt until smooth.
  6. Spread filling between two cookies to assemble.
