  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 33.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour (for glaze)
  • 34 tablespoons water (for glaze)
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup (for glaze)
  • 23 teaspoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and granulated sugar; let sit until frothy (5-10 minutes).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together warm milk, melted butter, granulated sugar, cinnamon, allspice, salt, vanilla extract, and raisins.
  3. Add the yeast mixture to the wet ingredients.
  4. Gradually stir in 3 cups of all-purpose flour until a soft dough forms; add more flour if necessary until the dough is not sticky.
  5. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  6. Place in a greased bowl; cover and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
  7. Punch down the dough; divide into 12 pieces and shape into buns on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. Let buns rise again for 30 minutes before preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Bake for about 22 minutes or until golden brown.
