  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 3/4 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon clove
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla paste or extract
  • 1 cup granulated sugar for coating
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon for coating
  • Neutral frying oil such as canola

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast; let bloom for 10 minutes.
  2. In a stand mixer bowl, mix the yeast mixture with remaining ingredients until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead with a hook attachment for about 20 minutes until elastic; cover and refrigerate overnight.
  4. Roll out dough to 1/2 inch thick and cut into donut shapes; let proof for about an hour.
  5. Heat oil to 360°F and fry donuts until golden brown; roll in cinnamon sugar while warm.
  6. Fill cooled donuts with gingerbread cheesecake mixture using a piping bag.
