  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 oz uncooked lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground turkey or beef for about 5-7 minutes, breaking it into smaller pieces.
  2. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent (about 3 minutes), then stir in minced garlic for an additional minute.
  3. Mix in crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, and seasonings. Bring to a simmer.
  4. Stir in broken lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente (approximately 10-12 minutes).
  5. While noodles cook, combine ricotta with half of the mozzarella and Parmesan in a bowl.
  6. Once noodles are done, stir in the cheese mixture until well combined and creamy.
  7. Serve hot with extra mozzarella on top and fresh basil as garnish.
