  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon chili sauce
  • Sliced bell pepper and onion

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef thinly against the grain into strips.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together cornstarch, flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, egg, and water until smooth.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a wok over medium-high heat. Dip each beef strip into the batter and fry in batches until golden brown (3-4 minutes). Drain on paper towels.
  4. In the same wok, heat sesame oil and sauté garlic, ginger, onion, and bell pepper for 2 minutes.
  5. Add soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, chili sauce, and sugar; simmer for 2 minutes.
  6. Toss in the crispy beef strips; stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until well-coated.
  7. Garnish with green onions and serve immediately.
