  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (optional for heat)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces. Season with salt, pepper, and half of the garam masala.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter with oil. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent (about 5 minutes). Stir in minced garlic and ginger; cook for another 2 minutes.
  3. Add remaining garam masala, cumin, paprika, and optional chili powder; cook for about 2 minutes.
  4. Add seasoned chicken to the skillet and brown on all sides (about 7-10 minutes).
  5. Pour in tomato puree followed by heavy cream and yogurt. Mix well and let simmer for 10-15 minutes until cooked through.
  6. Stir in lemon juice before serving.
