Ingredients

Scale
  • 11/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 11/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 11/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease an 8.5 x 4.5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Using an electric mixer, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and pale (about 3-4 minutes).
  4. Add two large eggs one at a time, ensuring they are fully incorporated.
  5. With the mixer on low speed, alternately add half of the flour mixture and half of the milk. Repeat with the remaining flour and milk until just combined.
  6. In another mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and chopped apple. Set this mixture aside.
  7. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and ground cinnamon for the topping. Set aside.
  8. Pour half of your batter into the prepared loaf pan followed by half of the apple mixture. Lightly swirl with a knife or skewer. Pour remaining batter on top, followed by the remaining apple mixture. Swirl again lightly.
  9. Sprinkle the topping mixture over everything.
  10. Bake for about 45 to 55 minutes until a cake tester comes out clean.
  11. Remove from oven; let cool in pan for 15-20 minutes. Whisk together the glaze ingredients and drizzle over the top of the bread. Allow to cool completely before slicing.
