  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 16 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C) for the cheesecake layer. Beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth, mix in sour cream and eggs then pour into a greased 9-inch pan. Bake for 40–45 minutes; chill completely.
  2. For red velvet layers, preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Combine dry ingredients; mix sugar with oil and incorporate buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, and vinegar. Gradually add dry mix until combined. Pour into two greased pans and bake for 25–30 minutes; cool completely.
  3. Make frosting by beating cream cheese and butter until creamy; gradually add powdered sugar.
  4. Assemble by layering one red velvet cake with half of the cheesecake layer, topping with another cake layer before frosting the top and sides.
  5. Chill for at least an hour before serving.
