Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) white cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 can (14 oz) cranberry sauce (whole berry or jellied)
  • 1/2 cup water (for cranberry layer)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 container (8 oz) whipped topping (e.g., Cool Whip)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Red and green sprinkles for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the white cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil. Mix on medium speed for about 2 minutes until well blended.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow it to cool completely in the pan.
  4. Once cooled, poke holes all over the top of the cake using a toothpick or skewer.
  5. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine cranberry sauce, 1/2 cup water, and granulated sugar until warmed through and smooth. Pour evenly over the poked cake.
  6. After letting the cranberry layer set for about an hour in the refrigerator, spread whipped topping evenly across the top.
  7. Garnish with red and green sprinkles for a festive touch. Chill in the refrigerator for at least two hours before serving.
