  • 46 medium croissants
  • 1 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1½ cups whole milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional: ½ tsp espresso powder or 1 tsp orange zest
  • Powdered sugar for garnish
  • Cocoa powder for garnish
  • Fresh berries or whipped cream for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. Tear croissants into chunks and layer half in the dish. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and layer remaining croissants on top.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Pour the custard over the croissant layers and let sit for 15–30 minutes for absorption.
  5. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes until golden brown and set in the center.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Garnish as desired.
